Receive live weather forecasts at sea

Whether you're a professional skipper, an occasional yachtsman or the owner of a boat you use mainly for fishing, your real barometer is not your compass, as in the old days... but the weather!

What will the weather be like today? What will the sea be like? Is it safe to take my boat?

Discover Advanced Tracking's revolutionary new tool for all your weather weather forecasts when you're at sea!

How does it work?

It's quite simple: to access the service, all you need is an e-mail address and a medium (a satellite phone, but also a tablet or a traditional mobile will do just fine, provided they're equipped with "PocketGrib"-type software). You'll receive the information in the form of a weather file generated by the most reliable computer source in the field: the NOOA MMAB Operational Wave Model. Do you have a monthly subscription to Advanced Tracking for satellite geolocation? Our weather service is not only easily accessible, it's also free... it would be a real shame to deprive you of it.

What is a GRIB file?

Thanks to the Advanced Tracking system, weather forecasts are provided in the form of digital GRIB files, which benefit from an extremely high compression rate and can therefore be downloaded easily, even from a low-speed connection (with a satellite phone, the download time for a 2 to 8Kb file is just 30 seconds). The files are generated from the boat's position, transmitted by the geolocation beacon it is equipped with. Not only do we never lose sight of you for a moment, we're also able to send you the weather information you need, in real time!

How do I register?

To register, simply log on to www.whatusea.com and enter all the necessary information in the "Alerts/Notifications" menu, so that we can send you a file type suited to your requirements and browser profile. In addition to your e-mail address and the frequency with which you would like to receive our weather forecasts, you will also need to tell us the nature of the forecast (wind, wave height, atmospheric pressure, etc.) and its duration (12 hours, 72 hours, etc.). It's also important for us to know your coverage requirements (whether the boat is moving or stationary) and the radius of the area, so that we can offer you a tailor-made service.
